The Azerbaijani Army demonstrated bravery, courage, and great heroism in the 44-day Patriotic War, liberated our occupied territories, including Nagorno-Karabakh, and ensured the territorial integrity of our country.

The occupying Armenia, which for many years had been under the protection of international organizations and certain major powers, bowed before the military-political diplomacy of the President of Azerbaijan. The chief commander of this unforgettable Victory is the President, Supreme Commander-in-Chief, Victorious Mr. Ilham Aliyev, and the courageous Azerbaijani Army under his leadership.

This historic Victory is also the result of the development whose architect was the National Leader Heydar Aliyev, and whose ideas have been successfully implemented in all spheres of our country, especially in the building of a modern army, by President Mr. Ilham Aliyev. The Great Victory in the Patriotic War is the brightest and most sacred page of our history.

We are confident that under the leadership of President Ilham Aliyev, the Azerbaijani state will safeguard the achievements of this historic Victory and forever preserve the bright memory of our Shehids (martyrs).

By the Decree of the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan, Ilham Aliyev, dated December 3, 2020, in order to immortalize this unprecedented Victory, which became a celebration of our nation’s strength and a symbol of national pride, November 8 is solemnly celebrated every year as Victory Day in the Republic of Azerbaijan.

We pray to God for mercy upon our martyrs who gave their lives for the Motherland and wish health to our veterans!

Victory Day is inscribed in golden letters in the modern history of Azerbaijan.

Congratulations on the Victory, Azerbaijan!
Long live our victorious Commander-in-Chief!
Long live the brave Azerbaijani Army!
Karabakh is Azerbaijan!
